"Senators Uncertain How Vote On Gun Bill Will Swing; Co-Sponsors Look For GOP Support" -The Washington Times

That headline from The Washington Times says it all. The Senate is planning to vote on Obama’s gun control bill in a MATTER OF HOURS... the VOTE IS GOING TO BE CLOSE... and REPUBLICAN BETRAYERS ARE WORKING FEVERISHLY, behind the scenes, to drum up support for this legislative assault on the Second Amendment.

Time is short… and only you can tip the balance on what promises to be a close vote. Our elected officials need to hear from you right now.

The Second Amendment Is Not Open For Debate.

We’re beyond perplexed. This proposed infringement on the Second Amendment should already be dead, but last week, a group of 16 Republican betrayers locked hands with Barack Obama and Harry Reid and refused to kill this full-frontal assault on the Constitution.

In short, they voted to open debate on an infringement to the Constitution that should NOT be open for debate.

For the record, those Senators were: Lamar Alexander (R-TN), Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), Richard Burr (R-NC), Saxby Chambliss (R-GA), Tom Coburn (R-OK), Susan Collins (R-ME), Bob Corker (R-TN), Jeff Flake (R-AZ), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Dean Heller (R-NV), John Hoeven (R-ND), Johnny Isakson (R-GA), Mark Kirk (R-IL), John McCain (R-AZ), Pat Toomey (R-PA) and Roger Wicker (R-MS).

John McCain went so far as to attack his fellow Republicans. Appearing on CBS' Face The Nation with Senator Chuck Schumer, McCain had the audacity to say he couldn't "understand it." Red in the face, he preached: "The purpose of the United States Senate is to debate... to vote... what are we afraid of?"

Well... we can answer that question for you, Senator McCain. Our Founding Fathers left us very specific instructions on how we must go about amending the Constitution of the United States and, contrary to what you might believe, it is NOT the job of a United States Senator to amend the Constitution by legislating it away on the floor of the Senate after a spirited debate and a straight up-or-down vote.

As Radio talk show host Mark Levin put it prior to the vote last week: "The Senate intends to vote on changing the Second Amendment without any pretense of going through the constitutional amendment process — none. ... The Second Amendment exists as a protection for us against usurpation by Congress and the rest of the federal government. The Second Amendment protects an individual right and it’s that simple."

If you want to chip away at our Constitutional rights, Senator McCain, you're free to try by proposing an amendment to the Constitution... but what you're doing now, attacking the Constitution through legislative fiat, must be stopped.

So now, it's time to send the Maverick John McCain and his anti-Second Amendment colleagues in the United States Senate a clear reminder that they took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution... not debate and subvert the Constitution.

They’re Drunk With Power...

The problem with "debating" these infringements on the Constitution is that the "debate" never ends. As Tea Party Patriots put it, these Senators who are under the delusion that the Second Amendment is open for debate have "given momentum to the forces that promise to 'come back the very next day' to push for more control."

Here's just one of many examples: Gun Owners of America (GOA) observed: "Mark Glaze of Mayors Against Illegal Guns said on MSNBC that they would be back with new demands 'the day after' background checks are signed into law."

Leveling its criticism directly at Senator Pat Toomey, GOA went on to say: "So, now that we are on the verge of winning, why, in heaven’s name, would Pat Toomey try to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory... and create a platform for unending gun control demands that will resume the day his bill is signed into law?"

The 16 Republican betrayers who voted in favor of opening debate on this attempt to legislatively circumvent our cherished Constitution, could have... should have... shut the barn door by simply saying no.

If they did so, they would have sent those who plan to continue to push unending gun confiscation demands a clear message that further attempts to tear away at the fabric of this great country are dead on arrival.

But instead, they sent a message that unconstitutional attempts to subvert the Second Amendment through the 'legislative process' are indeed 'open for negotiation' on the floor of the United States Senate.

As a matter of fact, right after the 16 Republican betrayers refused to shut down debate and kill Obama’s gun control measure, Harry Reid immediately approved the original Feinstein Gun Grab, the so-called Manchin-Toomey 'background check' legislation and several other pieces of pro gun-confiscation legislation as amendments to the bill that are open for discussion.

In other words, the Obama gun control bill HAS TURNED INTO A SIX-HEADED HYDRA. And now each of these legislative usurpations will need to be individually defeated in the coming hours.

Why did some of our elected officials choose to send this dangerous message? Tea Party Patriots again: "Because they’re drunk on power."

Some damage is already done but we can still stop this slide down the slippery slope. We can stop it if we send a clear message to our drunk-on-power elected officials demanding they sober up... right here and right now.

"The Right Of The People To Keep And Bear Arms Shall Not Be Infringed."

The Second Amendment reads: "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

According to the Oxford Dictionary, the word "infringe" means: "Act so as to limit or undermine (something); encroach on."

The Second Amendment is very clear. The unalienable right to bear arms is not to be LIMITED... or UNDERMINED... or ENCROACHED upon.

But that's exactly what the Obama Gun Control bill and the various amendments that will be voted upon in the coming hours do.

And we're not the only ones saying that it’s is an infringement on the Second Amendment.

In an open letter that already is gaining strong support in the House of Representatives, Congressmen Paul Broun of Georgia and Steve Stockman of Texas wrote: "The so-called ‘universal background check’ would be a violation of a constitutionally-guaranteed right on an unprecedented scale."

And as Senator Mike Lee put it: "Some of the proposals, like for example - universal background checks - would allow the federal government to surveil law-abiding citizens who exercise their Constitutional rights." We can stop this infringement on the Constitution, but time is running short. Votes on unconstitutional attempts to legislatively subvert the Second Amendment will occur in hours and our sources are telling us the votes will be close.

If you haven't sent Blast Faxes or made phone calls, the time to do so is now. If you've previously sent Blast Faxes, it's time to do so AGAIN. We must show that our numbers are equally as strong as our unbending principles.

Please take action. Your Second Amendment rights hang in the balance.
