The Hillary Papers
Is Hillary Clinton the inevitable Democratic nominee for president in 2016?  After losing the nomination in 2008, anyone should be suspect of the word "inevitable" in politics. The Washington Free Beacon has gone through newly available archives of Hillary Clinton's best friend, shedding light on the way Hillary candidly thinks, reacts and operates.  The friend, Diane Blair, passed away in 2000 and was described as Hillary's "closest friend."  She kept records of their relationship in her diaries and she kept correspondence and strategy memos dating back to the mid-1970s.  The documents were donated to the University of Arkansas Special Collections library and were unpublished until recently, though some of the documents still remain closed to the public. You can read the Washington Free Beacon's assessment of the files here, but it describes them as follows: "The records paint a complex portrait of Hillary Clinton, revealing her to be a loyal friend, devoted mother, and a cutthroat strategist who relished revenge against her adversaries and complained in private that nobody in the White House was 'tough and mean enough.'" What these papers reveal is a woman who is very aware of the political strategy it takes to get things done and her frustration that no one is tough or mean enough to accomplish those tasks.

Hillary's "True" Feelings On Healthcare

While the Blair documents were revealing on Hillary's political battles, perhaps what is even more interesting are her thoughts on healthcare. "On Feb. 23, 1993, Blair joined the Clintons for a family dinner at the White House. The subject of healthcare reform came up. 'At dinner, [Hillary] to [Bill] at length on the complexities of health care-thinks managed competition a crock; single-payer necessary; maybe add to Medicare,' Blair wrote." Clinton continued to criticize her husband to Blair.  Entries like this appeared to reflect some real frustrations, "[Bill] has a real inability to organize, make tough choices, drives her nuts.'"  It's clear that all was not roses in the Clinton White House.

CBO Spin Continues
Obama administration officials and Democrats continue to furiously defend the CBO report from last week, which reported that the equivalent of 2.3 million full-time jobs will be lost within the decade because of ObamaCare.  The fact that they are still on their heels on this issue speaks to how much it has rocked the boat. If you missed the Sunday shows, the Washington Free Beacon has a round-up here, and you can see that the Democrats had a unified message on this issue: the CBO report is a good thing because not working gives you more freedom! I get the impression that the harder they push on this one, the more skeptical Americans become.  After all, Democrats have misled us on a number of occasions about the merits of ObamaCare, which have turned out to be untrue.  Why should we believe them when they tell us that this will be a good thing, when instinctually it doesn't feel like it?

Petraeus: On Hillary "She'd Make An Excellent President" - Posted by Alanturing
Former Gen. David Petraeus tells the authors of a new book on Hillary Rodham Clinton that she'd make a "tremendous president." So former 4-star General Petraeus, once urged by some powerful conservatives to run for the republican presidential nominee in 2012 - just praised Hillary saying she would make a "tremedous president" and also "was extraordinarily resolute, determined, and controlled." during the Benghazi tragedy. Petraeus would know first hand more than most, right?
