War on Jobs?
Democrats seem to be fond of political wars.
Their creation of the conservative war on women is a prime example. In that case, should we question whether or
not liberals are waging a war on jobs? I told you yesterday how jobs is now the
top concern for Americans. Yet we've had
two examples in recent weeks where liberal policies are resulting in job
losses, rather than job creation. Let's
start with the latest battle over the minimum wage. Barack Obama signed an executive order last
week, increasing the minimum wage from $7.25 to $10.10 an hour for federal
contracts. This is yet another example
of Obama over-reaching in his authority as president, and according to National Review the move may be unconstitutional. That hasn't stopped Obama before and it
likely won't in this case.
So Why Not Pay People More?
Liberals seeking to increase the
national minimum wage found themselves on the wrong side of the PR battle when
the Congressional Budget Office revealed
yesterday that this increase would eliminate 500,000 jobs by 2016. That number could rise to as many as 1
million jobs. The Obama administration has
pushed back hard on the report that Americans will lose jobs as a result of
their liberal ideology. This morning on
MSNBC, White House economic advisor Gene Sperling argued
that this was a good thing because it would allow people to "work less." Working less may be considered a victory for
liberals, but how will they explain when people do not have the option to work
at all because jobs have been eliminated?
What's clear is that between ObamaCare and their quest to increase the
minimum wage, liberals are harming job creation at a time when jobs is the top
concern for Americans. |

Obama Regret
Regret is a terrible feeling because there is nothing you can really do to
alleviate a sadness or disappointment felt by something that has already
happened. Such is the case for many Americans
with their vote to reelect Barack Obama. According to a new poll by The Economist/YouGov.com, “Given a chance to do it all over again, only 79
percent of those who voted for President Obama would vote for him again and 71
percent of Obama voters now inclined to vote for somebody else 'regret' their
vote to reelect the president.” If the
election were held today, based on these figures, Mitt Romney would be
president. You can read more of the
specifics here in the Washington Examiner but one that stuck out is that 100 percent of
Hispanics who voted for Obama say they would vote for someone else if the
election were held again. It’s clear that Barack Obama's promises and rhetoric
are not living up to reality and failing to improve our American way of life. It seems he will leave us with a legacy of
stubborn radicalism, rather than a better, stronger America.
