Landlords will use ads to rip de Blasio's housing agenda

LANDLORD (EXCLU) - A landlord group has launched a big ad blitz attacking Mayor de Blasio's housing policies. The TV and radio ads funded by the Rent Stabilization Association charge last year's rent freeze - which they fear could be repeated this year - hurts affordable housing because landlords can't afford upkeep, and hits his housing agenda overall. The group plans to continue running ads not just through the upcoming rent guidelines board process but over the next two years leading up the city election, aiming to hurt de Blasio politically. "People see the hypocrisy. The Mayor can't have it both ways - raising property taxes and water and sewer rates while creating bad policies, like rent freezes, that cap an owner's only source of income and ability to pay for these increased city-mandated costs," said RSA president Joseph Strasburg Landlords are launching a new ad blitz bashing Mayor de Blasio for his housing policies.
