Cop who gunned down Bronx woman’s dog must explain himself, says Bill Bratton

The fatal shooting a pit bull by police has been caught on video, and now the heartbroken owner of the slain pooch is suing the city. Yvonne Rosado has already filed a notice of claim against the city and plans to file a Civilian Complaint Review Board on Thursday about how cops shot and killed her dog Spike even though a video shows that the animal wasn't an outright threat to them. Cops were responding to a domestic violence call on E. 184th St. in the Bronx on Feb. 13 about 5:30 a.m. when Rosado, the domestic violence victim's neighbor, opened her door to see what was going on. the video shows Spike, his tail wagging, slipping out of the apartment and barking at the two officers. One of the cops goes down a small flight of stairs before shooting the dog in the head. The video also shows the dog's heartbroken owners rush out of the apartment crying over the dog as he slowly bleeds out, his tail still wagging. "The dog was wagging his tail, looking around...notice how quickly the gun came out," Rosado's attorney David Thompson said. "Did the NYPD learn nothing from Peter Liang? Don't fire your damn gun in an apartment house stairwell unless you absolutely positively 100% got to do it. No matter where this bullet ends up, something bad is going to happen." We have a copy of the grisly video as well as a 1 p.m. interview set up with Rosado and Thompson. TRACY The cop who shot a Bronx woman’s beloved pit bull will have to tell department investigators what was going through his mind.

Convicted California pipe bomber arrested after Easter blast near Disneyland
