REVEALED: Here's How John Podesta's Email Was Hacked
In
perhaps the single most embarrassing piece of information to come from
the WikiLeaks dump of Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta's emails,
we now know how hackers gained access to his account-and it makes it
abundantly clear that, when it comes to cyber security, the Clintons and
their minions have no idea what they are doing.
As The Smoking Gun reports,
Podesta received an email with the ominous subject line "Someone has
your email" that appeared to be from Google on March 19. It warned that
"someone just used your password to try to sign in to your Google
Account" and said Google "stopped this login attempt." The date, IP
address, and location of the supposed breach were all listed, and the
email recommended changing the password associated with the account
"immediately," providing a link to do so.
Podesta's chief of staff, Sara Latham, forwarded the alert to Charles
Delavan, a Clinton campaign IT worker, who concluded the email was
"legitimate" and the password needed to be changed "immediately."
Delavan encouraged Latham to ensure Podesta had two-step verification
enabled for added security and included an authentic Google link from
