Obama Could Attempt To Pack Supreme Court In Last Ditch Power Grab Nearly 10 months have passed since President Barack Obama nominated Merrick Garland, chief judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia circuit, to replace the late conservative justice Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court.

Under the leadership of Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Republicans have refused to hold a confirmation hearing for Garland, and the election of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump in November all but guaranteed Garland would never get his day before the Senate-let alone a job on the high court.
