2016 Officially Begins Moving beyond the exploratory committee phase, GOP Senator Ted Cruz tweeted last night that he was running for president. The announcement was made official at his speech today at Liberty College in Virginia. In his ad he included in his tweet, Cruz says that it is "time for truth." He also says that it is going to take a new generation of "courageous conservatives" to restore America's greatness. He's absolutely right. Conservatives need to be bold in their efforts to save America. Acting as watered-down versions of Democrats hasn't made our nation any better and hasn't made conservatives successful at the polls. America is craving inspired leadership. The tired ways of Washington are leading us to record debt, bigger government and less freedom. It can be reversed, but it will take the courage that Cruz speaks to. In 1975 Ronald Reagan said, "Our people look for a cause to believe in. Is it a third party we need, or is it a new and revitalized second party, raising a banner of no pale pastels, but bold colors which make it unmistakably clear where we stand on all of the issues troubling the people." As Cruz's announcement today begins the process of other conservative candidates officially throwing their hats into the presidential ring, I challenge them to remember these words. Remember that bold leadership and standing on principles is what will lead to a successful candidate in 2016. ObamaCare Is 5 Years Old If you can believe, ObamaCare became law five years ago. Yet it remains as unpopular as ever, and for good reason. Marking the anniversary, Obama slammed its critics, calling on them to "embrace reality." Well the reality is this ... A report from the National Bureau of Economic Research found that healthcare premiums are 24.4% higher than they would have been without ObamaCare. Rather than more competition in the marketplace, the number of insurance carriers has shrunk, which means that prices go up and quality goes down. The CBO estimates that the cost of ObamaCare will be way more than Obama promised, reaching $1.2 trillion. It's no wonder that over 200 straight polls taken over the years have found ObamaCare to be growing in its unpopularity. Despite what they promised, the more we learn about it, the less we like it.
