Something very interesting has been unfolding over the last day or so. It has to do with Eric Holder's request to meet off-the-record with journalists to discuss the Justice Department's handling of leaks to the media. The key phrase is "off-the-record." It's almost laughable that Holder would make such a request, considering the nature of what he wants to discuss. I'm not the only one to view this off the record request incredulously: Fox News, CNN, the New York Times, the Associated Press and the Huffington Post have all denied Holder's request to meet, so long as the "off-the-record' demand remains. Meanwhile, the Washington Post and the Politico will be attending the meeting. Why? I've had a difficult time figuring that one out. Ron Fournier has a piece in the National Journal: 7 Reasons Why the Media Shouldn't Keep Eric Holder's Secrets. Among the reasons he cites include... more Outrageous: ObamaCare Opponents Racist? Louisiana State Sen. Karen Carter Peterson, the chair of the state Democratic Party, caused quite a stir when she took to the floor of the State Senate and declared that the reason people oppose ObamaCare is because Barack Obama is black. Isn't the race argument getting old by now? There are about 1,000 reasons to opposed ObamaCare and absolutely none of them have to do with the race of the president. IRS "Kerfuffle" Updates I have a collection of stories related to the IRS scandal involving the targeting of conservative groups. As I told you earlier in the week, Jay Sekulow of the ACLJ has filed a lawsuit on behalf of at least 25 groups against the IRS. Apparently groups are still receiving probing inquiries as recently as just three weeks ago! In other words, the IRS was inaccurate in declaring that practice of targeting conservatives to be over. We also know now that the targeting was widespread and went into high levels of the IRS. Here are a few other stories related to the scandal .. I'm sorry, wait .. according to Chris Matthews, we are no longer to refer to this IRS story or Benghazi or leak investigations as "scandals." We will henceforth downplay them as mere "kerfuffles." Yeah ... right. Here are some of the latest news stories related to the IRS "kerfuffle"... more Today's "Hot Topic" On The Hannity Forums: Predict the next conflict zone... - Chuangtzu ...requiring the US to act as a "global force for good" with a "responsibility to protect" lives which, up until that point, nobody in the power centers of the US ever cared about. What's the region of the world which will emerge as the next focus of US foreign policy, especially as related to the natural resources up for grabs? I'll start... >> TV Tonight (Hannity FoxNews at 9pm ET): The administration's quest for damage control is running into major roadblocks. Ann Coulter reacts. Plus visitor logs showed Douglas Shulman visited the White House many times. What exactly was he discussing with Obama? And are Washington's scandals finally going mainstream? |
