The Race Card
Like clockwork in nearly every election, Democrats have used the race
card to influence or persuade voters. Though this campaign cycle has
taken things to a new level.
The New York Times is even reporting on the racial focus of Democrats as we approach the midterm election:
“In
the final days before the election, Democrats in the closest Senate
races across the South are turning to racially charged messages —
invoking Trayvon Martin’s death, the unrest in Ferguson, Mo., and Jim
Crow-era segregation — to jolt African-Americans into voting and stop a
Republican takeover in Washington.
The images and words they are using are striking for how overtly they play on fears of intimidation and repression ...”
More examples have popped up in the last few days since the Times article was published.
For example, Democratic Rep. Charlie Rangel told voters at a campaign rally that some members of the GOP “believe that slavery isn't over.”
Vulnerable Democratic Senator Mary Landrieu of Louisiana has gotten herself into hot water for also playing the race card. She told NBC's Chuck Todd:
“To be very, very honest with you, the South has not always been the
friendliest place for African-Americans.” She goes on to say, “It’s
been a difficult time for the president to present himself in a very
positive light as a leader.”
There seems to be no end to the desperation liberals and Democrats will stoop to in order to turn the tide of this election. |
