Geller Fatwa
An online post suggests that ISIS has issued a fatwa against Pamela Geller, the organizer of the free speech event in Texas. Can you believe that this is happening because of a cartoon?Geller has been on the program to respond to this threat, as well as the media fallout after the event.
Amazingly enough, the conversation in the mainstream media has not been about the radical nature of Islam. The conversation has not been about ISIS potentially executing attacks on American soil.
The conversation has not been about Sharia Law infringing on our right to freedom of speech in America.
The conversation has not been about the fact that Christian figures such as Jesus and the Virgin Mary have been desecrated, and yet nobody has killed or committed acts of violence because they were offended. Instead, the conversation has been about Pamela Geller's supposed provocation, or as liberals like to call it, "hate speech."
Those who are quick to blame Geller are putting our freedoms on a slippery slope. Whether intentionally or unintentionally, bending to the demands of laws which do not govern us means that our values are taking a back seat to political correctness.
Geller appeared on Hannity last night
, along with radical imam Anjem Choudary. Choudary openly admits that Geller and others who disparage the prophet Muhammad should face blasphemy charges, which carry the death penalty. The problem is that Geller does not live under Sharia Law. Geller, like the rest of us, lives in America where we are governed by the Constitution and our freedom of speech is protected. The difference is that radical Muslims seem to believe that we should also be governed by
Sharia Law, and are therefore exacting their punishment under a system in which we are not governed by here in America.
Geller says that it is time to take back our freedom. Too bad many in the media seem quick to blame Geller, rather than recognize and support what she stands for.
