Gun-toting bandit collared in Brooklyn: cops

67 Precinct Good Arrest- On October 24, 2015 at 0145 hours, plain clothed officers from the 67 Precinct were on patrol when they observed a male smoking, what appeared to be, marijuana next to a black four-door BMW, which was parked in front of a fire hydrant at 2327 Bedford Avenue. The officers stopped their car and directed their attention to the male, who, upon seeing the officers, dropped the marijuana cigarette to the ground. As Police Officer Joel Crooms (RIGHT) exited his unmarked police car to investigate, the male fled from the location. As the suspect began to run, he reached into his waistband and threw a gun under a nearby vehicle. The suspect continued to run along Bedford Avenue, with Officer Crooms chasing him on foot and Officer Jason Conway (LEFT) in the patrol car. As the suspect turned onto Albemarle Road, Officer Conway drove ahead to cut the suspect off, forcing the suspect back in the opposite direction where Officer Crooms was able to apprehend him without further incident. The suspect was found to be in possession of forged Illinois driver’s license. The officers returned to the scene and recovered a defaced .32 caliber Thames Arms revolver loaded with 6 rounds underneath a vehicle parked in front of the suspect’s. A further search of the suspect’s vehicle revealed that he was in possession of various burglar’s tools. Despite recent fatal shooting of a fellow officer, chased and apprehended a gun-toting bandit in Brooklyn early Saturday.
