Hero Cop: Pro-Life Co-Pastor Of Colorado Church
While
we continue to learn bits and about the gunman who killed 3 and wounded
almost a dozen others at a Colorado Planned Parenthood on Friday, we're
also learning about one of the gunman's victims: Police Officer Garrett
Swasey, the hero who gave his life to protect the people of Colorado
Springs.
Officer Swasey, a 44-year old father of two, was a six-year veteran of the University of Colorado Police force.
In addition to carrying out his duties as a police officer, Officer
Swasey was a man of deep faith who served for seven years as a co-pastor
of Hope Chapel in Colorado Springs. According to a report by The New York Times,
the officer was described by fellow church members and friends as "a
courageous man and loving father who drew strength and inspiration from
his Christian faith."
Adding to the poignancy of Officer Swasey's actions on Friday is the
fact that he gave the last full measure of devotion protecting those
with whom he disagreed.
According to Officer Swasey's co-pastor Scott Dontanville at Hope
Chapel, Swasey was pro-life. Dontanville said Swasey "disagree[d] with
the abortion industry", but that his beliefs would not have interfered
with carrying out his duty.
A memorial fund has been established to cover the education Officer Swasey's children. |

Pastor Explains What Impressed Him About Trump
At
the private meet-and-greet with dozens of pastors and religious
leaders, GOP frontrunner Donald Trump addressed concerns that some in
the African-American community have about perceived insensitivity to the
plight of minorities.
Bishop George Bloomer, founder and pastor of the Bethel Family Worship
Center, attended Monday's meeting, used the opportunity to ask Trump
about his recent comments that a black lives matter activist "deserved
to be roughed up" after heckling him at a recent campaign event.

"What impressed me was that I raised that question--I was the one who
raised the question to talk to him about that--for a half hour to 45
minutes we discussed that issue," the Bishop said on Hannity.
"And how'd you feel after it," asked Sean.
"I felt good about that," the Bishop responded. "I was okay about what his answers to what we had put in front of him."
Also joining Sean was Dr. Mike Murdock, Pastor of the Wisdom Center.
Murdock claimed that Trump sounded, "as real as any human could get" at
Monday's meeting.
"He doesn't really have a filter, does he?" Sean said to Murdock.
"And that's the secret to his appeal," Murdock responded.
Bishop Wallace Cherry of the Compassion Worship Center was also impressed by Trump's sincerity.
"I just came with an open mind, to see what issues this man stands for,"
Cherry explained. "What he said today, I kind of felt that he was
sincere, from the heart." |
