Former Jihadi Explains The Appeal Of Radical Islam As a young Muslim doctor in Egypt, Dr. Tawfik Hamid was one of thousands of young men and women who turned to radical Islam. After witnessing the horrors of the ideology first-hand, the Hamid turned himself around and now dedicates his life to fighting against the scourge of Radical Islam and the terrorism it spawns.

"The appeal for them is the desire to serve their religion and serve God and this desire is directed unfortunately in the wrong path," Dr. Hamid explained on Hannity.

"So you're describing very clearly a religious impulse, these people aren't mad about global warming, they're not mad about poverty or oppression, they're trying to serve God," remarked Hannity guest-host Tucker Carlson. "It seems obvious, they say it out loud, why do you think our leaders here, our president among them, refuses to acknowledge that?"

"I think they don't want to confront the reality that religions teaching has a major role in the phenomenon," Hamid answered. "If poverty and lack of education and socio-economic and political circumstances are the cause of the problem, why do these factors not effect the young non-muslims who live under the same circumstances?"

Trump Increases Lead in Latest Polling Businessman Donald Trump is heading into the new year with a substantial lead over the rest of the Republican presidential field, according to a new CNN/ORC national poll out Wednesday.

Trump leads the GOP field with 39% support, according to the poll. The next-closest contender is Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, who was doubled by Trump with 18% support in the survey.

Trump is averaging 35.1% support in the past eight Republican primary surveys, according to Real Clear Politics. As 2015 comes to a close, Trump has led all but two national surveys since July, when he first seized control of the GOP race.
