Latest Polls Shows Bad News For Cruz
Ted
Cruz is banking on tomorrow's Indiana primary to inject a shot of
energy into his presidential campaign, but a spate of recent polls are
showing the Texas Senator trailing frontrunner Donald Trump.
Released today by Gravis Marketing
show Cruz trailing GOP frontrunner Donald Trump 44%-27% in the Hoosier
State, a spread of 17-points. Ohio Governor John Kasich rounds out the
field with the support of 9% of likely voters, while 19% remain
undecided.
A new Wall Street Journal/NBC News/Marist poll
is predicting similar results in tomorrow's primary. The poll shows
Trump commanding 49% of voters, a full 15-points ahead of Cruz who is
polling at 34% among likely Republican primary voters.
Ted Cruz is hoping that a victory in Indiana can prevent Trump from
accumulating the 1,237 delegates needed to win the GOP nomination on the
first ballot. Fifty seven delegates are at stake in the Hoosier State's
primary. |
