Reid's Shameless Remarks
Yesterday on the Senate floor, Democratic Senator Harry Reid took the doom-and-gloom sequester scare tactics to a new low. While Americans were mourning the loss of, now, eight Marines killed in a training exercise in Nevada, Harry Reid took to the floor of the Senate to imply that accidents such as this would happen as a result of sequestration budget cuts. Since yesterday's remarks, Senator Reid's office has started to pedal backwards saying, “In the wake of the Hawthorne tragedy, Senator Reid's thoughts are with the Marines who were killed or injured and their loved ones. The idea that Senator Reid thinks the Hawthorne tragedy has anything to do with the sequester is absurd and unsubstantiated." Harry Reid has no conscious but he set a new low by politicizing this issue. This is politics, pure and simple, even NBC had to report Marine leadership’s belief that this was just political posturing. What’s worse, President Obama won’t mention anything about this because he’s the leader of this demagoguery.

Leading from Behind
Can you believe that Barack Obama has been in office for more than four years and he is just now taking his first trip as president to Israel, our closest ally? Nevertheless, Obama met with Israeli President Shimon Peres earlier today where they reaffirmed the point that the greatest danger is a nuclear Iran. However many people remain skeptical that the Obama administration is truly sincere in saying that all options are on the table when it comes to preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon … something that Iran is rapidly advancing towards, despite sanctions. President Peres also stated the danger of Hezbollah supporting the Assad regime in Syria. This leads to the other top story of the day, which is the alleged chemical weapons attacks in Syria. While it is unclear at this point which side is responsible for the attacks and whether chemical weapons were in fact used, what's clear is that there is an explosive situation in Syria which will req uire the president to make some tough decisions. Let's remember that Obama himself said that the use of chemical weapons in Syria was a “ red line.”  So at what point does the administration make a decision on how to address the situation in Syria, or will this just become another situation where America is leading from behind? Budget Battles
Lawmakers in Washington are eager to get out of town for their Easter vacation, but not before tackling budget issues. Today the Senate will be working on extending funding for our government to get us through the rest of the fiscal year (September 30th). I've already pointed out some of the more egregious spending included in the continuing resolution, including money to build robot squirrels and to promote caviar. Once the Senate finishes work on the continuing resolution, they are expected to then move on to the budget. It's been 1421 since the Senate passed a budget resolution, but I guess you could say better late than never? The Senate Democrat budget proposal, proposed by Democrat Patty Murray, has caught a lot of flack from Republicans. Rightly so. Meanwhile, where is the president's leadership in all these budget talks? Well, he was too busy filling out his NCAA tournament brackets to have time to work on his budget. He's delayed submitting his budget until two months after the deadline, April 8th. For more on the budget trickery, check out Hannity.com.
