Amnesty Betrays Tea Party

Many self-appointed Tea Party leaders lately have expressed views supportive of an amnesty to legalize illegal aliens. This is a betrayal of Tea Party values.The Tea Party movement was not founded on rewarding illegal activity. It wasn't founded on taking jobs from American workers and giving them to illegal aliens. And it certainly wasn't founded on expanding the size of the federal government.

Yet those who support "comprehensive immigration reform" legislation play into the hands of those who want to do all of those things. An amnesty would only increase the size of government and support the open-borders liberals who want to expand government, increase the deficit, and control our lives. The rule of law needs to be respected. There should be no hand outs, especially of U.S. citizenship.

Any legislation that grants legal status to illegal aliens is an amnesty, which rewards breaking U.S. laws. Your proposal will take jobs away from Americans, resulting in increased government dependency, and trillions of dollars in increased spending. And ultimately, any amnesty will attract millions of more illegal aliens. An amnesty is not the only alternative to deportations, however. Illegal immigrants will go home if we they no longer can take American jobs and benefits. Please abandon your plans to support amnesty, and support real, effective immigration enforcement, instead.
