America Deserves Better The latest unemployment figures were released today.  We are five years removed from the recession and yet millions of Americans remain without jobs.  America deserves better. The unemployment rate for February ticked up to 6.7 percent from 6.6 percent.  But as we know, the unemployment rate doesn't really tell the full story of what is happening in our economy. The good news is that 175,000 jobs were added in February, which means that the number of Americans employed increased ever-so-slightly to 145.26 million.  But as CNS News points out, the number of unemployed Americans also rose.  There were 10.46 million unemployed Americans in February, which is up from 10.24 million in January and represents an increase of 223,000 Americans.  The number of long-term unemployed Americans also rose. America deserves better! Attacking Hannity I've come under some heat from liberals who were upset by my comments earlier this week about being humiliated for our country.  I love America and I've always been proud of our country, but I'm distressed by the current state of our nation for so many Americans who are having a hard time getting back on their feet.  We have a record 47 million Americans collecting food stamps.  That number has almost double since Barack Obama became president. Over 46 million Americans live in poverty. I've just told you how over 91 million Americans are not even participating in the labor force.  That's the highest amount since 1978 and it's staggering. I remind you of these numbers not because they are disturbing but because they are heartbreaking.  Each number you see is a person; it's a life of somebody somewhere who is suffering unnecessarily.  America deserves better! Fixing America I'm not one of those who criticize without offering any ideas.  I've laid out a very clear agenda that will help turn this country around. That agenda starts with energy.  I've laid out a conservative solution for energy that would most-assuredly create jobs, thusly lifting people off the government dole.  It would also give us the added benefit of being energy independent from nations that dislike us, and allow us to have the freedom and energy security to help maintain peace throughout the world.  We need to stop stealing from our children and future generations and implement real budget reforms such as the Penny Plan. We need to control our borders, get serious about providing better education to our children and offer a free market-based healthcare solution for America.
