Voters are Mad
Is our country headed in the right direction? A vast majority of Americans say no. America, it's time to make some changes.
The polls show the GOP pulling
ahead as we inch closer to the midterm election in just two weeks. But
there is an underlying current in the polls, which shows why this is
important in the long run.
For example, the latest CNN/ORC International poll
finds that almost 70% of Americans are angry at the direction the
country is headed. The number of Americans classifying themselves as
“very angry” matches the polling conducted just before the GOP sweep of
the House in 2010.
The polling also shows that a
majority of Americans (53%) disapprove of Obama's job performance as
president. This is translating into a 10-point enthusiasm gap between
Republicans and Democrats heading to the polls. Republicans are much
more enthusiastic about voting on November 4th compared to Democrats.
More polling conducted by ABC News/Washington Post
shows similar dissatisfaction among voters. Again, almost 70% of
voters feel the country is seriously off track. When it comes to the
top issue of the economy, nearly 70% of voters have a negative view of
the economy and do not believe it is getting any better under Obama.
ABC News labels this a “midterm double punch.”
Diving even deeper into the poll,
there is a growing concern among Americans that the government is not
to be trusted: "Six in 10 say they cannot trust the government in
Washington to do what is right — the same as a year ago in the aftermath
of the government shutdown and the botched rollout of the federal Web
site for the Affordable Care Act.”
The growing sense of government
incompetence comes after months of bungled issues by the Obama
administration. Think about the stories that have graced the headlines
in recent months: Russia's annexation of Crimea, the rise of ISIS, the
VA scandal, the influx of immigrants at the Southern border, and the
botched handling of the Ebola crisis.
There are hundreds of others stories that only add kindling to the administration's torched trust. Continue reading...
