Refusal to Name the Enemy
The world is finally waking up to the dangers of radical Islamic terror, but the United States appears to be asleep at the wheel. How can we win a war when we can't even name the enemy? We are at war with radical Islam - Those words are not from the leader of the free world, Barack Obama, but from French President Francois Hollande.

Instead, the United States refuses to use the words "radical Islam." In a White House press briefing this week, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest was pressed to explain why they are bending over backwards to avoid using this phrase. Here is his explanation.

Al Qaeda has now claimed responsibility for the attack in Paris. More specifically, al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) based out of Yemen claims "responsibility for this operation as vengeance for the Messenger of Allah," according to a video released overnight. The last time I checked, al Qaeda was considered a radical Islamic terrorist organization. Its motivation to avenge the Prophet Muhammad is "accurate," if that's what this administration is looking for.

Romney Was Right...Again
Throughout his presidential campaign, president Obama repeatedly reminded us that core al Qaeda was decimated or on the run. What he failed to mention was the spread of dangerous al Qaeda off-shoots such as AQAP. This is a point that Mitt Romney rightly pointed out during the debates, calling for a comprehensive strategy to defeat this kind of extremism, which had spread throughout many countries. Considering Romney's grasp on the true nature of the situation, perhaps if he had won, he would have had a strategy in place to deal with the rise of groups like ISIS. Remember that Obama initially labeled them the "JV team" and admitted not having a strategy to defeat them after they began seizing large swaths of territory.

While al Qaeda and ISIS are separate terrorist organizations, they are driven by a shared radical Islamic ideology that cannot be ignored. To do so is dangerous, yet this is exactly what the Obama administration is doing. Obama's judgement on this issue is perhaps clouded by a romantic vision of Islam that he has held for much of his life. Unfortunately for the safety and security of the world, this means that the United States probably won't effectively lead the fight against this enemy threatening our values and way of life.
