Outrageous: Michael Moore
Michael Moore demanded via Twitter that America “disarm the police” and called our prisons a “modern day slave system.”
In the wake of the riots in Baltimore, Michael Moore has come up with
his own solutions, which include disarming police officers.
His series of Tweets included the following demands:
“Here's my demand: I want every African-American currently incarcerated
for drug "crimes" or nonviolent offenses released from prison today.”
“And the rest who r imprisoned- I dont believe 50% of them did what
they're accused of. Lies. Greed. A modern day slave system. Poor whites
2”
“Next demand: Disarm the police. We have a 1/4 billion 2nd
amendment guns in our homes 4 protection. We'll survive til the right
cops r hired”
There's already a system to hold police
accountable, as we've seen today with charges being brought against the
six officers in Baltimore. But while police are serving their
communities, making them unarmed sitting ducks is hardly a reasonable
solution.
In fact, as the protests turned to violence, Maryland
State Police who traveled to Baltimore to help fellow officers were
told to stand down! The subsequent violence, looting, burning and
destruction of property is what followed as a result of that order.
Maryland sheriff Michael Lewis told a local radio show, “I was
sick to my stomach like everybody else. … This was urban warfare, no
question about it. They were coming in absolutely beaten down. The [city
officers] got out of their vehicles, thanked us profusely for being
there, apologized to us for having to be there. They said we could have
handled this, we were very capable of handling this, but we were told to
stand down, repeatedly told to stand down.”
Meanwhile, gangs were uniting in Baltimore at the time in order to
allegedly target officers. Officers were targeted in the wake of Eric
Garner's death in NYC and two were gunned down in Brooklyn by someone
wanting to put “wings on pigs.” |

Baltimore: Beacon of Liberalism
Liberals, including Barack Obama, believe that cities like Baltimore
could be saved if only we spent more taxpayer dollars. That's been tried
for decades, and it has failed. How about giving conservative policies a
chance?
During his remarks earlier this week, President Obama criticized
Republicans for failing to invest in his agenda: “There’s a bunch of my
agenda that would make a difference right now in that. Now, I’m under no
illusion that out of this Congress we’re going to get massive
investments in urban communities, and so we’ll try to find areas where
we can make a difference around school reform and around job training,
and around some investments in infrastructure in these communities
trying to attract new businesses in.”
Whenever a politician says “investments,” they mean spending money.
But the truth is that money – a lot of money – is already being spent,
but that hasn't managed to create job opportunities, improve education,
reduce crime rates, or decrease poverty. Obama has given us his stimulus
program, the son of stimulus, and $18 trillion in debt. Yet we aren't
spending enough money?
Baltimore continues to be run by
liberals and has been for 40 years. If there is any indictment to be
made, it is that liberals has failed people in cities like Baltimore.
Michael Tanner has an excellent piece in National Review that lays
out the facts about Baltimore. Big government and liberal policies have
only perpetuated a climate of poverty and despair. Here are some of
Tanner's findings.
Welfare: “Maryland has one of the most generous welfare systems in
the nation. A mother with two children participating in seven common
welfare programs — Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), food
stamps (SNAP), Medicaid, housing assistance, Supplemental Nutrition for
Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), energy assistance (LIHEAP), and free
commodities — could receive benefits worth more than $35,000. Yet,
nearly a quarter of the people in Baltimore still live in poverty. In
1960, Baltimore’s poverty rate was just 10 percent.”
Welfare benefits haven't reduced poverty; in fact, poverty has
increased. Yet people continue to vote for Democrats who keep these
policies in place that trap people in poverty over generations.
Family: “Some studies have long shown that high welfare benefits
correlate with high out-of-wedlock birth rates. It should not come as a
surprise, then, that two-thirds of births in the city are to unmarried
mothers, and almost 60 percent of Baltimore households are headed by
single parents.”
