NYPD cops nab 2 fare-beaters with firearms

On Saturday, September 13, 2015 at approximately 0254 hours, at the Nostrand Avenue Subway Station within the confines of the 79th Precinct Sergeant Steven Rosado and Police Officer Nicholas Zummo who are assigned to Transit District 30 were on patrol in plain clothes when the officer observed a male step over the turnstile without paying to gain entry into the transit system. The officers approached the suspect, stopped him, and using a police radio performed a warrant check. It was determined that the suspect was a transit recidivist and did not qualify to receive a summons. The suspect was taken into custody and placed in handcuffs. A search incident to a lawful arrest was conducted, and a loaded silver Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum revolver, containing four rounds, was recovered from the crotch area of the suspect. Cops nabbed two turnstile jumpers who were packing heat over a three-hour span in Manhattan and Brooklyn, police said Sunday.
