Who Do Americans Trust To Keep Them Safe - Hillary or Trump?
One of the political consequences of the recent attacks in Paris has
been a dramatic shift in the focus of the 2016 presidential race from
domestic issues to security and foreign policy. The shift would seem to
benefit Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton, whose experience as
Secretary of State would lend itself to a foreign policy-focused race,
but a recent Rasmussen poll shows her edge might not be as significant
as she would hope.
WATCH: Trump responds to allegations that he's only a Republican out of convenience
When Americans were asked who do trust to keep them safe, Hillary
Clinton is polling dead even with GOP frontrunner Donald Trump. The
Rasmussen poll shows the pair both command 43% of the electorate, with
14% reporting that they are undecided.
A recent Fox News poll also shows Donald Trump beating Hillary in a
head-to-head matchup. Nationwide, Trump would defeat Hillary 46%-41%.
According to the poll, five other GOP contenders also beat Hillary in a
head to head matchup, with Senator Marco Rubio polling the best at 50%
to Hillary's 42%.
Despite his good poll numbers, some in the GOP establishment are
planning on moving forward with efforts to derail Trump's campaign in
the primaries. One of the focuses of their attacks, according to some
sources, is the fact that Trump only recently joined the Republican
party.
Trump claims his political transformation is akin to that of President Ronald Reagan.
"Ronald Reagan was a Democrat also and he went Republican, pretty
conservative Republican," Trump said on Hannity. "He was actually
somewhat of a liberal Democrat and he changed. I was a Democrat at one
point and I became a Republican. I'm really following a similar path
actually."

civilians and one police officer.
According to his Colorado voter records, 57-year old Dear is registered
as "unaffiliated", belonging to neither major party. In addition, Dear,
apparently, identifies as a woman.
According to NPR, Dear has had several previous run-ins with the law for minor infractions of which he was eventually acquitted...(continue reading) |
