THE SEAN HANNITY SHOW

Ted Cruz Doubles Down On "New York Values" Criticism One of the more fiery exchanges of last week's GOP presidential primary debate came when Donald Trump responded to Senator Ted Cruz' criticism of "New York values", which Cruz claimed Trump embodies.

After explaining the courage and by New York's first responders and his personal experience after the 9/11 attacks, Donald Trump declared, "that was a very insulting statement Ted made."

However, despite the criticism Cruz has received for his statements, the senator is not backing off. In fact, the Texas senator and presidential hopeful is doubling down.

"Everyone knows what New York values are," Cruz told Dean on Hannity. "Of course we all honor and revere the first responders, the police officers and firemen, who rushed into the twin towers."

"[Donald] knows that the origin of why I said that was that he did a long interview with Tim Russert where he explained where he found his political views and values and he said that they all came from New York," Cruz continued. "So he told Tim Russert he was very, very pro choice, he supported partial birth abortion, he was open to gay marriage and all of that he said, 'you gotta understand I'm from New York, those aren't Iowa values,' this is Donald speaking. He said that's what New Yorkers believe and that's why I believe it. So Donald used that as an explanation for his own views."
