The Hinds County Sheriff's Department's Task Force conducted the drug raid around 9 p-m Thursday night. In addition to the marijuana, police found 74-hundred dollars in cash, a large screen television and one laptop computer.
Four women were taken into custody:
  • Janet Jernigan, 26 years old, of Louisville
  • Orchid Jones, 23-years-old, of Jackson
  • Tosha Daniels, 29-years-old, of Texas
  • Kenya McDonald, 23-years-old, of Jackson
All are charged with possession of marijuana, with intent to distribute. McDonald is also charged with possession of a stolen firearm. Police say everything just sort of fell into place.
"Our investigators responded to a report of illicit activity at an apartment" said Lt. Jeff Scott of the Hinds County Sheriff's Department. "And once the residents opened the door, there was a strong odor or marijuana that came from the apartment. So everything kind of snowballed from there, and we got a search warrant."
Scott says they are not yet releasing the name of the apartment complex, until further investigations.
