36% of Americans can Name 3 Branches of Government
Our system of government is special for many reasons including our foundation in the principles of freedom and liberty.
Our branches of government are
separated, representing co-equal branches, that serve to check and
balance the other branches from obtaining too much power.
Unfortunately, not many Americans even know what these branches are, much less their purposes.
A new survey from the Annenberg
Public Policy Center found that only 36% of Americans can name all three
branches of government.
That same survey points out that
most Americans don't have a clue which party is in charge of the House
or Senate, and I guess that's assuming they can name the Legislative
Branch.
That's just downright shameful.
How are we expected to preserve our liberties if so few people even know the basics about our system of government?
