Christmas 1776
It has become somewhat of a tradition but one that I'm increasingly
grateful for. For the last few years, Newt and Callista Gingrich have
spent the holiday season advocating for what it means to be an American.
They speak of freedom and perseverance and of the winter of 1776 when
our nation was born out of the freezing tundra of Valley Forge. Many
think of the Boston Tea Party or Philadelphia where the First
Continental Congress convened.
The Gingrich's though remind us
that it was the sacrifice of our veterans that carried us through to our
nation's wondrous beginning. If you haven't seen Newt's narrative,
"Christmas Day 1776" you can
watch it here.
Sit
down with your children and grandchildren and take a few minutes today
to appreciate all our forefathers did to make us great and help instill
the spirit that will live to protect it for generations to come. |

God Bless America Recent reports
from Afghanistan brought the heartbreaking news that two American
soldiers were killed in a bold attack by Taliban fighters outside of
Kabul. This story, coupled with last week's senseless school shooting
in Pakistan has left the world with a sense that all is not well in
Afghanistan.
Along with the continued violence in Syria and Iraq and it becomes
ever-more clear that the men and women in the armed forces continue to
struggle and sacrifice to protect our freedoms and do their part to try
and make the world a better place.
As we settle down this
evening with our families and celebrate the joy of the Christmas season,
it would do us all a good to offer a moment of silence for the men and
women who're in harm's way. God bless those who sacrifice for our
freedom. God bless America! |
