Mom kills son, takes her own life at Ariz. hospital: cops

Mesa Police say they are investigating after what appears to be a murder-suicide at a children's hospital. Staff reportedly found a 27-year-old mother and her 5-year-old son inside the child's room at Banner Desert Children's Hospital after 2 a.m. Saturday. Police identified the boy as Helios Griffith (right), and his mother as Lola T. Griffith (left), also known as "Tammy". Police believe the mother took her son's life and then took her own life. The mother's injuries appear to be from a gunshot wound, but the child's injuries were not disclosed. Nurses at a Mesa, Ariz., hospital found a mother and her son, 5, with cerebral palsy dead Saturday in an apparent murder-suicide.

He was charged with drunken driving, and had over 40 bags of marijuana in his car as well. A drunken driver motoring into the Midtown Tunnel fell asleep as he waited to pay the toll — then woke up in a holding cell, officials said.
